Quotation Forms Settings

This article provides guidance on the setup required to begin quoting parts in AMFG

Written by AMFG Consulting & Support

The Quotation Forms in AMFG allow you to control your pricing setup for all the latest features — including the part preparation page, client integration, and the front-end ordering portal. This section lets you create as many quotation form configurations as needed, giving you unmatched flexibility and control over your quotations.

To begin setting up your Quotation Forms, please navigate to:

Management Console → Settings → Quotation Forms:

In addition to creating new quotation configurations, you can also view all existing configurations in this section.

Each configuration tile displays key information, including:

  1. The sections in the AMFG software to which the configuration has been applied (e.g. Internal Quotation, Front End, Client Integration)

  2. The technologies assigned to the configuration

  3. The current status of the configuration (Active/Inactive)

Regional Quotation Forms:

(Please contact your Success Manager or the AMFG Support team if you want this feature to be enabled for your account)

You can create regional quotation forms to account for various differences, such as pricing, available machines, material availability, or other regional factors. This feature allows companies to offer tailored options for different customers and to distinguish where an order was placed.

To create a regional quotation form, or edit an existing one, follow the steps below:

1. Click on the dropdown menu and select "Apply to"

3. Create Regions

4. Select the region you want this quotation form to be applied to with a checkmark

5. Save

In your front-end ordering portal, you can now select a region — for example, the USA or Germany. When the region is changed, the corresponding regional quotation form will load automatically.

Creating a Configuration

To create a quotation configuration, follow these steps:

1. Go to Settings → Quotation forms → Click on the '+' plus button at the top-right corner of the screen, as shown below.

2. This will take you to the Quotation Form Setup page, where you can configure available Fields, Build Logic, Formulas, Requests & Warnings, and Custom Fields for your Services in your new quotation form.

Define Fields

Once you’ve created your quotation form configuration, you’ll need to define the fields with production parameters that should be available for each required technology in the system:

  1. Click the plus button to select the technology you want to configure.

  2. Go to the Define Fields section to begin setting up the necessary input fields for the selected technology.

  3. Click the + Add Field button to include the fields you want to define. This will display a list of all standard fields available in AMFG.

  4. You can also create and add your own Custom Fields if needed.
(For details, please refer to the Custom Fields Guide.)

  5. Arrange the order of the fields by dragging and dropping them.
(Note: Machine and Material fields are locked as the first two items.)

Build Logic

The Build Logic section lets you create the logical flow of your quotation. You can also test your setup using the Form Preview tool on the right.

To set up the logic flow:

1. Navigate to the Build Logic section.

2. Add all relevant machines for each specific technology as needed.

3. Continue configuring the remaining fields. All fields defined on the Define Fields page will be displayed here.

  • The fields will also retain the order in which they were added to the Build Logic.

  • Expand your logic by adding parameters individually to create various combinations based on the selected options.

For example, as shown below, you can assign different materials and colours to two separate machines by adding distinct options for each.

  • This setup gives you full control over your form configuration. You can restrict specific materials to certain machines, and even limit colour options based on the selected material — allowing for precise and tailored combinations.

4. Preview the Form configuration

Use the Form Preview to see exactly how your quotation form will appear during the quotation process. This helps you verify the correct order and visibility of fields and options.

  • Hide Fields from the Quotation Form
Click the green eye icon to hide the Technology or Machine fields from the quotation form. When hidden, these fields will not be visible to users in the Front End, Part Preparation, or Client integration stages.

Write Formulas

The Write Formulas section allows you to create detailed price calculation formulas for each service in your quotation form configuration.

To create a formula:

1. Navigate to the Write Formulas section.

2. Define the Conditions for Applying the Formula
Clearly specify the conditions under which the formula should be used. This ensures that the formula is only applied when specific criteria are met, preventing unintended results.

3. Set the Condition
To define when the formula should be triggered, choose a field, an operator, and a value from the available drop-down menus. These selections establish the specific condition under which the formula will be applied.

For example, you could have the following condition:

The formula will only be applied when the selected machine is a Fortus 450mc, and the chosen material is either ABS or PLA.

You can define your conditions as broadly or as specifically as needed—for example, applying the formula based on the technology type or narrowing it down to specific values such as material type, quantity, or machine settings.

4. You can create multiple formulas for each technology by simply clicking "Add Rule & Formula". This flexibility allows for highly dynamic and agile price calculations, tailored to a wide range of conditions and scenarios.

5. To create a formula, use the Formula Viewer. You can add parameters by simply dragging and dropping them from the right-hand panel into the viewer (1). As you type your formula, the system will provide auto-suggestions based on the characters you enter (2), making it easier to build accurate and efficient formulas.

6. Available Variables for Use in Formulas

When building your formula, you can use the following variables:

  • Quantity

  • X-length (mm)

  • Y-length (mm)

  • Z-length (mm)

  • Bounding Box Volume (X × Y × Z in mm³)

  • Minimised Bounding Box Volume

  • Volume (mm³)

  • Support Volume

  • Support (Z-minimised)

  • Surface Area (mm²)

  • Shrink-Wrap Volume (voxelized volume – the size of the voxels can be customised by contacting support@amfg.ai)

  • Number of Layers (based on selected layer thickness)

  • Number of Shells (number of individual parts in the file)

These variables allow you to create highly tailored and precise formulas based on part geometry, material usage, and print setup.

Please note: All formulas are in mm

7. Use Custom Field Variables in Formulas
Any custom fields you created in the Define Fields section will appear in the right-hand panel under Quotation Parameters. These variables can be used just like standard parameters when building your formula.

8. Create Pricing Formulas for (Post-Processing) Services
You can also define individual pricing formulas for each Service. These formulas are automatically applied whenever the corresponding post-processing service is selected during the quotation process.

Additionally, custom fields for services can be used within these formulas. In such cases, the formula will reference the values entered or selected by the user in the custom field—enabling highly specific and flexible pricing setups.

Services

The Services section in the Quotation Form Configuration allows you to easily create custom fields for each post-processing service that already exists. Please refer to the How to add a Service guide and make sure you created all needed services before proceeding to this setup.

To set this up:

1. Navigate to the Services section within your Quotation Form Configuration.

2. Add or edit custom fields specific to each service.

3. Define the type of input (e.g. text field, drop-down select options, file upload) and possible values for these fields.

You can find out more about how to create custom fields in the Custom Fields article.

4. These custom fields can be used to:

  • Capture additional details from users during the quotation process

  • Build tailored pricing formulas based on the specific post-processing options selected.

5. Return to the Build Logic section to check the form with the Services custom fields (if applicable). The field will only be shown if the relevant post-processing service is selected.

Assigning a Configuration

After successfully creating a quotation form configuration, a new tile representing that configuration will appear on the Quotation Forms page. This allows you to easily identify and manage your different configurations.

At this stage, your new quotation form is inactive and needs to be assigned to a section of the AMFG platform for it to be used.

To assign a quotation form, click on the 'Apply To' button.

This will open a pop-up window where you can assign the quotation form to one or more of the following quotation systems:

  • Internal Quotation

  • Front End

  • Client Integration

You can assign your quotation form to any combination of these systems—one, two, or all three.

Once you’ve made your selections, click Save to apply the assignment.

Now you can see that your quotation form has been assigned and automatically activated.

If a different quotation form was previously assigned to the same area of AMFG, assigning a new form will automatically deactivate the old one.

  • Editing a Quotation Form

To modify an existing quotation form assignment:

  1. Click the small arrow button in the top-right corner of the desired configuration tile.

  2. From the drop-down menu, you can:

    • Change the assignment

    • Rename the form

    • Duplicate the form

    • Deactivate the form

  • Assigning to the Front-End

When you assign a quotation form to the Front-End Portal, that form will control the quotation process within the latest version of your front-end application (ordering portal). This means it will be used for all automated quotes that customers create on your website.

  • Assigning to Internal Quotation

When you assign a quotation form to the Internal Quotation system, the form will be used to manage quotations within the Tickets/Work Orders → Part Preparation widget -> InHouse tab. This means it governs all quotes generated and sent directly from the Management Console.

  • Assigning to Client Integration

When you assign a quotation form to Client Integration, this configuration will control the quotation form that your partners see when placing orders on their Part Preparation widget inside the orders.

You will be able to see this configuration in your Part Preparation widget → Partners tab:

Please refer to the Client Integration: External Production Centres article for more information and guidance.
