AMFG’s Quotation Forms enable you to create custom fields in the Define Fields, (Post-Processing) Services sections, and in the Machine/Material properties in the Production Parameters. Custom fields are essential for adding flexibility to your quotation process, allowing you to base quotes on any custom parameter you need.
How to Create a Custom Field
1. Navigate to the Settings → Quotation Forms → Define Fields section.
From there, you can customise the field according to your requirements.
or Navigate to the Settings → Quotation Forms → Services tab, click on the required post-processing service, click on +Add field, and then click on +Create custom field:
2. This will bring out a pop-up window in which you need to specify the following information:
Field Name: The display name of the new field.
Units: The unit the field is specified in (if applicable).
Variable: The variable that will be used in formulas and Email/PDF templates (only use letters and numbers, but do not start with a number).
Add Description (optional)
Mark the field as 'Required' (optional) - this will ensure that this field must always be selected to quote a part
Select the field type and add values for the formula: The value each option will represent in a formula. Here you can select from a free text/number, single select options, and file upload.
- A free text/number means that the customer will enter the value manually during the quotation.
- The single select option will require a customer to pick an option from a dropdown menu with a fixed value.
- File upload allows the customer to upload additional files to the Quotation (e.g, PDF, CAD, etc.)
Custom Field Variables in Formulas
Variables created through custom fields will also appear on the Write Formulas page as Quotation parameters and Services parameters. When these variables are used in formulas, the calculations will use the values provided by the user—either through a free-text input or from fixed values selected via single-select options.
After saving your custom field, you can see it at the bottom of the list of fields, shown when using the '+Add field' button, on the Define Fields page.
The same is visible on the Services page under each service when using the '+Add field' button.
Once you create a Services custom field, it will be applied across the entire Quotation Form, meaning it will appear whenever quoting any technology. In contrast, standard custom fields are specific to the technology for which they were created and will only be available when quoting that particular technology.
How to Add a Machine/Material Property
To add a new material property, follow these steps:
Navigate to Settings → Production Parameters → Machines/Materials Tab — here you’ll see a list of all available materials.
Select a Machine/Material from the list.
Once selected, a window will appear on the right side of the screen.
In this window, you can Add Material Property or Add Machine Group Property to define specific properties for that material (e.g., color, density, or supplier details).
This allows you to customise each material with relevant data, making it easier to manage and apply material-specific settings throughout your production process.
After selecting the 'Create new field' button, a window will appear showing the available field types you can choose from:
Free Text Field: Allows you to enter any text value. Ideal for notes, descriptions, or other information.
Free Numeric Field: Enables you to input numeric values. Useful for measurements, weights, or any numerical data.
Range: Lets you define a minimum and maximum value to represent a specific range (e.g., temperature, tolerance, or thickness).
Multiselect: Allows you to select multiple options from a predefined list — perfect for materials or properties that can have more than one attribute.
These options give you flexibility to customize how data is stored and managed for each machine/material.
Example of how Machine/Material properties appear when applied
Once the fields are added, they will be displayed under the selected machine/material’s details. Each custom field will show its label and the value entered — for example:
Color: Blue
Density (g/cm³): 1.25
Temperature Range: 20–80°C
Compatible Processes: SLS, MJF
This view allows you to quickly see all the custom properties assigned to the machine/material for easy reference and management.
