Overview
Sentinel AI is an intelligent 2D drawing data extraction tool that allows you to upload PDF drawings alongside your 3D models to streamline the quoting process. By automatically retrieving key technical information directly from the title block of a PDF, Sentinel AI reduces manual data entry and ensures high precision in your manufacturing estimates.
Key Benefits
Faster Quoting: Eliminates the need to manually type in material specifications, surface roughness specs, and tolerances.
Increased Accuracy: Directly pulls data from engineering drawings, reducing the risk of human error during transcription.
Unified View: Switch instantly between the 3D part view and the 2D document view within a single interface.
🔍 One-Click PDF Viewer Access
You can now access all relevant PDF information directly within your active workspace, allowing you to switch instantly between the 3D part view and the 2D document view.
One-Click Viewing: Use the small icon located directly in the 3D viewer for instant, one-click access to your 2D engineering drawing.
Overlay Workspace: The PDF viewer opens directly on top of your 3D model.
Tabbed Navigation: You can open multiple tabs within the PDF viewer window and navigate between them with ease.
Quick Close: Simply hit the "X" button to close the drawing viewer and go straight back to your active 3D view.
How to Use Sentinel AI Extraction
1. Uploading the Drawing
To trigger the extraction, upload your 2D drawing (PDF) along with your 3D model in the 2D drawing field.
Supported Formats: Currently, the system focuses on extracting data from standard 2D engineering drawings in PDF format.
Automatic Analysis: Once uploaded, Sentinel AI scans the document's title block to identify relevant manufacturing parameters.
2. Extracted Information
Sentinel AI is designed to automatically identify and populate the following fields in your production parameters:
Material Name: The AI matches the material listed on the drawing to your existing AMFG Global Material Database.
Dimensional Tolerances: Extracts and calls out precision requirements (e.g., ISO 2768 or custom values).
General Tolerance: Extracts general tolerance from the title block, matching to the relevant ISO standard (e.g., ISO 2768 or custom values).
Surface Roughness: Identifies required finish,
Threads: Detects thread specifications (e.g., 6x M14).
3. Matching and Verification
Smart Suggestions: If a material name is recognized, Sentinel AI will provide a pre-selected suggestion from your database, highlighted in green for easy verification.
One-Click Access: Use the small PDF icon within the 3D viewer to open the 2D drawing in a floating window on top of your 3D model.
Manual Overwrite: You can always review the extracted data and manually adjust any parameters if necessary before finalizing the quote.
Best Practices for Optimal Extraction
Clear Title Blocks: Ensure the PDF drawing is high-resolution and the text in the title block is legible.
Use Standard Notation: The AI is trained to recognize standard industry notations for materials and ISO tolerance classes.
Multiple Tabs: You can open multiple PDF tabs within the viewer to compare different versions or related drawings for the same part.
Pro Tip: By combining data from both the 3D geometry (volume/features) and the 2D PDF (tolerances/materials), you can achieve the most accurate instant quotes possible in AMFG.
