Advanced Delivery Configuration Guide

Written by AMFG Consulting & Support

Advanced Delivery

Advanced delivery settings allow you to create bespoke pricing models that factor in specific delivery methods, physical box sizes, locations, and custom pricing formulae. Unlike Simple Delivery, this mode uses the part's bounding box to automatically calculate the most cost-effective packaging combination for an order.

Phase 1: Enabling Advanced Delivery

Before proceeding, you must activate the advanced mode within your application settings.

  1. Navigate to Settings → Portal Settings → Delivery Pricing.

  2. Select Advanced.

  3. Warning: Switching delivery modes will automatically clear all items currently in your clients' baskets.

  4. (Optional) Toggle Split Shipments if you wish to allow parts from a single order to be sent in multiple deliveries.

Phase 2: Defining Methods and Box Sizes

In this stage, you define the physical constraints of your shipping containers. The system will use these dimensions to "test-fit" parts based on their bounding box volume.

  1. Navigate to Settings → Advanced Delivery → Delivery Methods & Box Size tab.

  2. Title of Method: Enter the service name (e.g., "Standard", "Express").

  3. Box Size: Define the Length, Width, and Height for every available box size under this method.

  4. Box Buffer: Enter a value (standard unit is mm) to increase the effective bounding box of a part, ensuring there is enough room for protective padding or packaging material.

Customer Warning: If a customer attempts to upload a part with a bounding box volume larger than any box configured for their selected method, the system will display a warning message.

Phase 3: Locations, Cost, and Lead Times

Link your box/method combinations to specific geographic regions and set base pricing.

  1. Go to the Locations, Cost & Time tab.

  2. Default Delivery Country: Select the primary country for your portal (e.g., United Kingdom).

  3. Add Country: Assign specific methods and box sizes to a country, state, or region.

  4. Max Time Req'd: Specify the expected delivery duration in days.

  5. Pricing Type: Choose between:

    • Flat Fee: Set a fixed price per box for that specific size/location.

    • Formula: Choose this if you need to calculate costs based on dynamic variables like weight or quantity.

Note: A warning message will appear to the customer if they try to upload a part that has a bounding box volume too large for any of the boxes in the method they have selected.

Phase 4: Formulae Where Needed

For complex pricing scenarios, you can create detailed mathematical expressions similar to the Quotation Forms logic.

  1. Navigate to the Formulae Where Needed tab.

  2. Determine Purpose: Specify if the formula applies Per Part (summed for the delivery cost) or Per Box (calculated based on the total box contents).

  3. Set Conditions: Use IF statements to factor in variables like the destination Country or specific Delivery Method.

  4. Write Formula: Click and drag available parameters into the formula editor
