Work Orders Overview - Part Preparation

Work Orders Overview - Orders & Parts View

Written by AMFG Consulting & Support
Updated this week

The part preparation page has been developed to enable users to track activity, enhance communication, edit key data, and ultimately manage the part[s] before production.

The part preparation consists of two aspects - Work Order View & Part View

Work Orders Overview

To access the part preparation page from the Work Orders Overview page, simply click the relevant Order ID.

Work Orders → Work Orders Overview → OR-000XX

Selecting the Order ID will open a summary of the Order consisting of:

  1. Parts panel

  2. Communication widget

  3. Ticket details

  4. Contact details

  5. Order widget

  6. Cost widget

1) Part Panel

  • Here, users can complete the following actions in bulk:

  1. Browse and upload files

  2. Rename the project

  3. Add the project to the catalogue

  4. Duplicate the ticket

2) Communication Widget

The communication widget is central to the part preparation page and will be available to the user on an order and part level.

It consists of three tabs: Activity, Messages, and Production Notes.

  • Activity

Tracks changes made in the Order or to the parts. Events such as ticket status changes, reassigment of contacts, completing production steps for parts/items, receiving messages, and more are logged as an activity in this tab.

  • Messages - review this Guide for more information

Allows users to link emails to the Ticket, send emails to contacts and internal users, attach templates, and create meeting notes with a specified date and time.

  • Production Notes

Allows the user to create Internal or External production notes referencing a specific part or all the parts.

3) Ticket Details

Allows changing the Priority level (High or Low), changing the Ticket Status, uploading additional files, entering a Custom Ticket ID, and reassigning the ticket to a different user.

The ‘Reassign Ticket’ button opens a dropdown menu with all internal users and departments available:

4) Contact Details

Summary of the customer's details, including main data points such as organisation, name, email, and telephone.

Function to change contact, select from the list of saved contacts, or create a new contact.

5) Order Widget

Summary of the order's details, including Order ID, order date, delivery method, delivery & billing address. The user can edit the delivery & billing addresses directly from here!

***Please note that the cog wheel icon enables the user to view or hide specific fields and add more details to the order widget view accordingly.

6) Cost Widget

Provides a breakdown of the financial details of the Order. You can also add a PO number in this space.

Part Preparation Overview

The Part View offers a more granular perspective of the part selected, allowing the user to view repairs made to the file, specifications, and track items.

Items are the individual instances of multiple quantities of a part.

This page also enables users to internally quote the same part on other production parameters.

Work Orders → Work Orders Overview → OR-000XX → Part OR-000XX-1

The page consists of:

  1. Parts panel

  2. 3D CAD viewer

  3. Communication widget

  4. Repair & Analysis panel

  5. Part details

  6. Production Parameters (Quotation form)

  7. Items widget (bottom right corner)

1. Parts Panel

Displays a 2D image, file name, some production parameters, and the status of the part within the Ticket.

  • The following actions can be performed in bulk:

  1. Apply a saved production parameters configuration

  2. Change parts status

  3. Delete parts

  4. Download source files

  5. Download final files

  6. Add to Part Catalogue (saving the current production parameters configuration)

  7. Change parts Shipping Deadline

  • The following actions can be performed on a single part:

  1. Change part status

  2. Change quantity

  3. Change part units (does not change the default units of the Management Console set in Settings Localisation → Units of Measurement)

  4. Download part files (all available versions)

  5. Add part to Part Catalogue (saving the current part configuration)

2. 3D CAD Viewer

The primary feature of the Part Preparation page is the large 3D CAD viewer, which allows users to inspect parts in detail. Users can freely rotate the model by left-clicking and dragging or using the "Change part orientation" menu, add annotations, minimise the bounding box, measure the part, and zoom in or out using the mouse wheel button for closer examination.

The Annotations tab enables internal users to attach notes directly to the 3D model, making it easier to communicate design details and manufacturing considerations.

Within the viewer, users can display 3D annotations and customize the visibility of the part with the following features:

  • Show/Hide:

    • Axis

    • Platform

    • Bounding Box (**This is not the actual Bounding Box of the part, just an example one**)

    • Annotations

    • Geometric warnings

    • Switch between Light and Dark Mode

  • Select Cutting Plane

  • Mirror the part

  • View the part with:

    • Shading with boundaries

    • Wireframe

    • X-ray view

    • CNC features

  • Use 'Hand Tool'

3. Communication Widget

The Communication Widget appears underneath the CAD viewer in the Part View page. This is where you can still see the Activity log, Messages - send emails to Contact or User email, and Production notes - additional information for your parts.

4. Analysis & Repair panel

Specifies the Volume, bounding box, analysis findings, and any required repairs suggested for the part. **Correct Volume can be calculated only after repairs have been done!**

5. Part Details panel

Provides a summary of all the main data points relating to the part, including part ID, shipping deadline, Production center, technology, material, and any other production parameters applied to the part. Users can select/deselect the relevant fields they want to view in this panel from the cog wheel icon.

This widget also provides the ability to upload additional files and download PDF templates stored in your Management Console.

  • Manage Workplan

If a part has post-processing services applied, the user can arrange the sequence of the required services, which will be reflected in the Production module.

Simply change the order of the services by drag-n-drop and press Apply:

6. Production Parameters

The production parameters widget enables the user to:

  • View the confirmed production parameters for the part that were sent to production.

  • Change any parameter available in the Internal Quotation Form to quote the same part against different parameters.

  • Choose between In-house or Partner production (see External Production Centers)

  • Save the current configuration.

  • See price breakdown.

1) Total Price

2) Price per unit

  • Inhouse production - The production parameters will reflect the fields and logic within the Internal Quotation Form.
Although the price will be automatically calculated, the user has the ability to override the price manually as well.

  • Partner production - The production parameters will reflect the fields and logic within the Quotation Form that is applied to Client integration.

  • The ‘Save Config’ button saves the current parameters and price without attaching them to the part.
The configuration is then stored in the dropdown menu at the top of the Part Panel. Simply click 'Apply' to attach this configuration to the part.

  • Users can override the current configuration of a part and save new parameters against it by Updating the part.
After changing a parameter, the user can press the ‘Update’ button, which will trigger a warning message as follows:

This could be done in bulk for multiple parts as well!

7. Items Widget

Individual instances of parts are tracked and managed via the items widget.

**Please note that the widget displays 10 items per page by default**

Each individual part has its own unique tem ID, status, and shipping deadline date. The Item ID is determined by the following logic:

  • OR-000XX → Part OR-000XX-1 - Item OR-000XX-1-1

Users can batch select items to change their status or manually set up a desired shipping deadline:

Changing shipping deadlines from here can help keep track of a split shipment.
